We’re proud to share that South Hetton Primary School in Hetton is one of the latest schools to benefit from the UK Government’s EV Infrastructure Grant, with the successful installation of three single-socket EV charge points, supporting up to three vehicles charging simultaneously.
The project was delivered by EV Smart as part of our ongoing work helping schools across the UK futureproof their sites and support the transition to electric vehicles.
🌱 Championing Cleaner Travel in Education
EV charging is becoming an essential part of modern school infrastructure — not only for convenience, but also as a commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future. With this installation, South Hetton is:
Supporting lower-emission commuting for staff and visitors
Aligning with the UK’s Net Zero and Department for Education sustainability goals
Demonstrating leadership in environmental responsibility to pupils and the community
These kinds of visible, practical steps help embed sustainability into school culture in a way that’s both accessible and meaningful.
🛠️ Fully Delivered by EV Smart
EV Smart provided a full turnkey solution, including:
3 x Single-Socket Fast EV Charge Points
Smart charging platform and usage reporting
DNO liaison and electrical installation
Ongoing support and maintenance
And with funding available through the government’s grant scheme, the school was able to complete the project with little to no upfront cost.
