⚡ Shields Row Primary School Installs Six EV Charging Bays with Help from Government Grant

We’re pleased to share that Shields Row Primary School in Stanley has partnered with EV Smart to install three dual-socket EV charge points, enabling six EVs to charge simultaneously — all made possible through the UK Government’s EV Infrastructure Grant for state-funded schools.

This is a fantastic example of how schools can take meaningful, practical steps towards a more sustainable future, while also improving facilities for staff, visitors, and the wider community.

🌍 A Greener Future for Schools

Shields Row Primary is one of many schools now actively supporting the UK’s Net Zero ambitions. By installing EV infrastructure on-site, they’re:

• Reducing emissions linked to travel and commuting

• Promoting sustainable behaviours among staff and families

• Demonstrating environmental leadership to their pupils

With transport being one of the largest contributors to carbon emissions, providing charging at educational sites is a key way to enable the EV transition where it matters most — in the heart of our communities.

From site survey to switch-on, EV Smart delivered the full installation package, including:

• 3 x Dual-Socket Fast EV Charge Points

• Software setup, charge management platform & live support

• DNO coordination and commissioning

• Maintenance plan and usage reporting

Thanks to the Government’s grant support, the school was able to complete the project with minimal capital outlay, making this a cost-effective and futureproof improvement to their site.
