Business Development Manager (EV Charging Infrastructure)
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (with UK travel)
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 base + commission + EV car/allowance + benefits
About EV Smart
EV Smart is one of the UK’s fastest-growing independent Charging Point Operators (CPOs), delivering innovative EV charging solutions across local authorities, commercial landlords, schools, and leisure destinations. With hundreds of live charge points and major contracts including Newcastle City Council, we are scaling rapidly and investing in the next phase of our growth.
We are now seeking a Business Development Manager with both industry knowledge and electrical understanding to join our team and help us expand our presence across the UK.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for:

Identifying and securing new business opportunities across councils, landlords, developers, hotels, fleet operators, and commercial clients.

Leading the full sales cycle from prospecting to contract close.

Supporting tender responses and contributing to growth strategies.

Building strong client relationships and becoming a trusted advisor on EV charging, ROI, and sustainability.

Working closely with our operations team to scope projects, ensuring technical and commercial alignment.

Representing EV Smart at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
About You
We are looking for someone who combines commercial drive with a technical mindset:

Proven experience in business development / sales within EV charging, renewables, energy, utilities, or electrical contracting.

Knowledge of electrical installations and infrastructure (e.g. load management, DNO applications, schematics).

Strong commercial acumen with ability to discuss financial models (CapEx, OpEx, ROI).

Confident communicator able to engage with senior stakeholders, councils, and technical teams alike.

Self-starter with a growth mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-scaling business.

Full UK driving licence (EV Smart provides EV company car/allowance).
